Affinity Groups

The University of Nevada, Reno has several affinity groups focusing on campus-wide diversity and connecting faculty and staff communities.

The Diversity & Inclusion affinity groups are voluntary and open to all faculty and staff who wish to participate in them. Membership meetings are normally held monthly September through December and February through May during the academic year.

Students can participate in several student-centered committees offered through The Center for Student Engagement, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN), and the Graduate Student Association

Alianza

Alianza is dedicated to creating a collaborative and generative environment to address topics relevant to Chicanx, Latinx, Indigenous and other underrepresented groups.

Asian, Asian American and Indigenous Pacific Islander Working Group

AsPIre is dedicated to promoting a collaborative, inclusive, and generative environment for API faculty, staff, and students on campus and beyond.

#BlackAtThePack

#BlackAtThePack was founded in 2020 by Black faculty who have been working together to promote community for ourselves and students.

Committee on the Status of Women

The Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) is composed of faculty, staff, and students who are concerned with gender equity on campus.

Cultural Diversity Committee

The committee's projects include an annual conference and a sub-committee focused on creating a forum for ongoing dialogue.

Queer and LGBT Advocacy Board

The Queer and LGBT Advocacy Board draws on research and best practices to continually support the intersectional identities of LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff and student communities.

Neurodiversity Alliance

The Neurodiversity Alliance’s mission is to raise awareness, promote access and ensure equity for the neurodiverse population at the University of Nevada, Reno.

University Disabilities Advocacy Committee

The University Disabilities Advocacy Committee works with campus units to ensure disability and safety compliance is in effect for all campus spaces.

Work, Life and Family Council

The University's Work, Life and Family Council (WLFC) provides resources and advocacy to assist campus members in managing that tricky balance.

Veteran Support Team

The University of Nevada, Reno Veteran Support Team is dedicated to helping and supporting military veterans who have served their country. Our team consists of classified, admin faculty and academic faculty.

Native Staff and Faculty

The Native staff and faculty listserv was created to provide support, spread awareness, and share events and opportunities to strengthen the Indigenous community across campus. Staff and faculty who want to gain more information are encouraged to join the list serve.
