Gifted and Talented Graduate Certificate

While gifted and talented students come with special promise, they also benefit from special support. With a graduate certificate in Gifted Education, teachers can better prepare themselves to understand and empower their gifted students.    

Why Get a Gifted and Talented Certificate?

This program is designed to help teachers gain Gifted and Talented licensure from the State of Nevada Department of Education. Completing this course sequence fulfills the content specified by the State of Nevada to gain a Gifted and Talented endorsement on an existing Nevada teaching license.

What Are the Program Requirements?

For admission into the program, students must have:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • A teaching license in elementary or secondary education
  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better

Upon applying, students must submit an application, transcripts from all previous college work (if not already possessed by the University of Nevada, Reno) and two letters of recommendation that describe the candidate's ability to successfully work with students in a learning setting.
