Biography

Dr. Badsha is an assistant professor in cybersecurity at the Department Computer Science and Engineering at University of Nevada, Reno since 2019. Before joining the University, Dr. Badsha worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Nevada, Reno from August 2018 to June 2019. During his postdoc research, he explored various privacy issues in sharing cybersecurity information among the organizations and developed privacy preserving mechanisms for exchanging the threat intelligence data. His main research interests are cryptography and blockchain based applications, privacy preserving (homomorphic cryptography based) applications, access control, and IoT (Internet of Things) privacy.

Dr. Badsha received his Ph.D. from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia in 2019 on Privacy Preserving Recommender Systems where he explored the privacy issues in various types of recommendation systems and developed private protocols to generate recommendations in privacy preserving manner. His Ph.D. study was supported by RMIT International Research Scholarships as well as Data61- CSIRO top up scholarships. Prior to his Ph.D. research, he obtained his M.Eng.Sc degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya, Malaysia in the area of signals and systems.
