THE CLASS OF 2020 GIVES THANKS

We asked the Class of 2020 for their thoughts on graduating, and they responded with notes of gratitude and appreciation for the family, friends and mentors who helped them on their journey.

Nicholas Romero Garibaldi

"Thank you so much to my loving and supportive family! Your faith in me drove out any doubts I had regarding my ability to persevere along the difficult road to obtaining my degree in Environmental Engineering. I do not know what the future has in store for me, but I do know that with such an amazing family at my side, I have nothing to fear. I cannot wait to see what adventures life has in store for me next!"

Sana Arshad

"My journey of becoming a Civil Engineer has finally come to an end. It wasn’t easy but by continuous support of my teachers and parents, I have achieved my goal. Thank you everyone who have been part of my journey and helped in every difficult phase I’ve been through. I’ll always be thankful for this. "

Brenda Michelle Henriquez-Flores

"I would like to thank my amazing parents, Daysi and Orlando Henriquez. Thank you for instilling in me the hard work, dedication and confidence that has helped me reach my goals. Thank you for filling my life with love, happiness, and support. I am grateful for all that you have done for me and for what you continue to do. I would also like to thank my siblings Krissia, Kenia, and Benji Henriquez. I am fortunate to have you all in my life and to have the opportunity to constantly learn from each of your brilliant minds."

Tristan Tyler Carter

"...Lastly, thank you to two of the most important people in my life, Mom and Dad. I know that they would do anything in their power to ensure that I have anything I ever need. While growing up, they would skip meals to make sure we ate. They would take on extra hours so they could provide us with whatever we wanted. I could never repay them for all that they did. Knowing that receiving a degree in Civil Engineering from a tier one university will bring them the upmost pride, makes the long nights of studying and stressing throughout the last five years worth it."

Sara Calic

"After four wonderful years at the University of Nevada, Reno studying Electrical Engineering, my biggest thanks goes out to my family who have supported me every step of the way. Their positivity, insight, love, and patience was a huge contributor to my success. Without them, it would have been hard to get to where I am today. A very special thank you goes out to my father who taught me the beauty and value of all things electronic, igniting a passion I didn’t know I had."

Jack Kuchler

"I would like to thank my friends and family for all their support through this journey. I would also like to thank all of the professors and faculty who have taught so many lessons, many of which go beyond the classroom. After graduation, I will continue my education at UNR in Electrical Engineering. UNR has been such a great adventure and journey and I will be happy to spend one last year at the place that has taught me so much."

Jordan Mast

"I want to thank my parents for all that they have done for me to help me be successful. They have always had my back through everything and deserve the world. My friends and family are the most important thing to me and I strive to make them proud with everything I do in life moving forward."

Vahina Li

"...there have been many constants in my life that have helped foster the admiration and joy I have for environmental engineering. For one- Nikki, who encouraged me to pursue engineering and saw my capabilities when I was bashful and unwilling. Apt 321, AM, T- for the encouragement, distractions, and utmost love and support. Mom and sis for always being in my corner and showing me that faith may not always be physical but it is still there and unwavering. Thank you to everyone I've met along the way who believed in me while showing kindness and acceptance. Here's to paying it forward."
