George W. Hammond, Ph.D
George W. Hammond is director of the Economic and Business Research Center in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. He has decades of experience tracking and forecasting state and local economies. His analysis has significant influence, reaching thousands decision makers each year through conferences, publications, and press contacts. These print, radio, and televised press contacts included NBC Nightly News, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Bloomburg BusinessWeek, the New York Times, and local media. Dr. Hammond is also a research professor in the Center. His academic research focuses on key drivers of local economic prosperity and the contribution of higher education to local workforce development. Dr. Hammond holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in business economics from Indiana University.
Mehmet Tosun, Ph.D
Mehmet S. Tosun, Ph.D. is a Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also the recipient of the Barbara Smith Campbell Distinguished Professor of Nevada Tax Policy at UNR and has a number of other affiliations. He is a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Bonn, Germany, a research affiliate fellow of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing at the University of Oxford, and a research fellow at the Economic Research Forum. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. His research interests include public economics (public finance), economics of population and demography, political economy, growth and regional economics.
Rahul Bhargava, Ph.D
Rahul Bhargava received his Ph.D. in Finance from Texas A&M University in 1995 and is a CFA charterholder since 2000. He is currently a faculty in Finance at University of Nevada, Reno and has previously taught at Texas A&M University and University of Houston-Clear Lake. His research has been published in leading Finance journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Business, Finance and Accounting, Journal of Business Research, and Global Finance.
Jeanne Wendel, Ph.D
Jeanne focuses on health economics. She has published papers on topics such as employer wellness and prenatal care program evaluation, the potential efficiency of bundled payment, and the outlook for statewide health information exchange. Jeanne and her colleagues recently completed the program evaluation for a federally-funded initiative conducted by Nevada Medicaid. Their current project focuses on the impacts of state decisions regarding Medicaid expansion and high risk pools, on premiums offered in state Health Insurance Exchanges.
