- B.S., Accounting (2009)
- Master of Accountancy (2010)
- Senior Technical Accountant, NV Energy
I chose to attend UNR due to Nevada being my home state, for the beautiful campus, and what the University had to offer. The accounting program helped me to grow as an individual. I not only was able to learn the skills I needed to become a CPA, but met people in the Reno area that I still communicate with today. The professors in the accounting department make the program superior to many others, due to the fact that they are great at what they do, are always willing to take the time to help, and most of all care about their students.
I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Spring 2009. During the summer of 2009, I worked as an accounting intern at NV Energy. After coming back to school, I graduated with my master's degree in Spring 2010. In Fall 2010, I began working at Grant Thornton LLP as an Audit Associate and was promoted to Senior Audit Associate in Fall 2012. Working at Grant Thornton, I had the opportunity to work on manufacturing, not-for-profit, gaming, governmental, and other public and privately held companies from Nevada to as far as Puerto Rico.
I currently hold the role of Senior Technical Accountant at NV Energy.
Overall, the UNR accounting program was the best foundation to starting my accounting career. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience at UNR. The atmosphere and the people make the university and the accounting program one of a kind.
