Scholarships
BUR students may apply for financial support from the biology department. We have Small Undergraduate Research Grants and both Senior Thesis and Degree with Distinction Fellowships. Grants and fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis.
Small Undergraduate Research Grants
Small undergraduate research grants of $500-$1000 per semester are available for students participating in research with a biology professor. These grants are intended to support:
- Expendable supplies and/or
- Transportation costs to field sites, and/or
- Travel to scientific meetings to present papers
Senior Thesis and Degree with Distinction Fellowships
A limited number of fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis for students carrying out thesis research during:
- The academic year semester ($3000) , or
- A full time-ten week summer period ($3500)
Additional funds are available for undergraduate research from the University Office of Undergraduate Research, from the College of Science, from NSF-EPSCoR for students in science and engineering, and from NIH-BRIN for students interested in biomedical research.
