Summary
Spencer is the Facilities Manager for the Biology Department. His role within the department includes managing the daily operations of facilities and laboratories to ensure quality performance and resolving emerging issues with utilities/scientific equipment. He is the primary point of contact for all services, repairs and renovations taking place in the department, and is responsible for negotiating contracts with vendors and contractors. Prior to being the Facilities Manager, Spencer worked for over 13 years in the Environmental Health and Safety Department at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he dealt with a broad range of issues relating to safety, regulatory compliance, and emergency planning.
Throughout his entire career at the University, Spencer has sought to advance the institution's mission and make it a welcoming place for all. He has served the campus community in various roles including chair of the Nevada Safety Committee, President of the College of Business Alumni Association (COBAA), and is a member of the Cultural Diversity Committee, Disability Advocacy Committee, and Campus Affairs Committee.
