Big Trees

tree branches

Each US state maintains a list of the biggest trees of each species in that state.  These individual trees are called State Champion Trees.  There are also co-champion trees for trees that are tied, and "up-and-coming" trees for young trees.  Because the UNR campus has planted trees for more than 100 years and has actively sought to plant a diversity of species, the university has a lot of champion trees--30 state champions, 5 co-champions, and 7 up-and-coming trees.  To see these trees, take the Big Trees Tours below.

Please see Appendix B for more information on Big Trees. Also please check out our Nevada State Champion Certifications, and our Nevada State Co-Champion Certifications.
