30 to Complete
The 30 to Complete campaign is designed to encourage students to take a full course load each semester to help them earn their degrees more quickly. The premise behind 30 to Complete is to promote the completion of 30 credits per year so that a typical bachelor's degree can be completed in four years.
Why 30 to Complete?
30 to Complete is not just a program at the University of Nevada, Reno. The campaign aligns with a program adopted by all the schools in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) called 15 to Finish as degree completion is a benefit to the entire state.
Graduate on Time
When you complete more credits each semester, you can be on track to graduate. It's simple math: 24 credits per year = 5 years for a typical bachelor's degree; 30 credits per year = 4 years for a typical bachelor's degree
Save Money
The less time you are in school, the less debt you accrue from tuition, fees, books, food, housing, etc.
Earn Sooner
The sooner you finish your degree, the sooner you can start into your career. In Nevada, a person with a bachelor's degree earns $18,000 more per year than a person with only a high school diploma.
How to Get Started
- Start taking courses you will need to complete your degree requirements. You will want to talk with your academic advisor to find out what courses you need to take. Don't know who your academic advisor is? You can find your advisor from our page on Academic Central. Find your advisor
- Create a plan to graduate in consultation with your academic advisor. Use this handout to plan each semester of your degree.
- Enroll in 15 credits or more each fall and spring semester. If you cannot take 15 or more credits, consider using Wintermester and Summer Session to complete 30 credits per year
- Stay up-to-date on course offerings and events by checking MyNEVADA every week. This is how you will know about important deadlines, academic events and registration information.
Financial Aid Policy
In support of the 30 to Complete campaign, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has a policy that provides additional financial aid eligibility for students enrolled in 15 credits for a semester. To find out the details of this program, please visit the Financial Aid website.
