Formerly known as the College of Education Building, the structure was renamed in 2003 in honor of Nevada State Sen. William J. Her primary areas of interest include cognitive and socioemotional development from infancy through adolescence, early mathematical development, parenting and families, and curriculum design, implementation, and efficacy in culturally and socioeconomically diverse early childhood settings. Her current research interests focus on early mathematics both in the home and classroom learning environments, with a specific focus on interventions targeting parents and preschool teachers of children at-risk for mathematical difficulties in the preschool and primary grades.
