Fall 2015 Student Workshop Series
Each of the Writing Center Workshops will be offered twice during each month, with seating for 30 at each workshop. Instructors are encouraged to schedule these workshops for delivery to specific classes as well.
Narrowing the Topic & Making a Claim This 45-minute workshop provides practical strategies to help students narrow topics and make clear, claims in their writing and presentations. Students will be provided with several examples, participate in discussions, and apply strategies to their own writing or example texts.

Concision & Clarity This 45-minute workshop provides students with the importance of clear, direct, concise writing and communication. Students will learn how to refine their language for clarity and concision as well as more effective ways to develop their writing to meet assignment expectations, such as word count and page requirements.

Citation Style & Source Attribution This 45-minute workshop provides students with an overview of formatting, style, and citation, providing specific examples from APA and MLA. Students will also learn how to effectively integrate source information by providing context/introduction, explanations, and making connections (synthesizing) to other sources.
