The University Writing Center (UWC) helps undergraduate and graduate students become more effective and confident writers. Whether you are concerned with style, voice, word choice or formatting, we can help.
We work with students from all disciplines, with any writing projects, at any stage, including any academic writing, non-academic papers, letters, proposals, and resumes. We offer one-on-one and small group tutoring in a comfortable and informal atmosphere. Take advantage of our trained tutors to make your next piece of writing the best it can be!
The center now offers workshops on thesis and dissertation writing, tutoring with ESL emphasis, and workshops for instructors on assigning and promoting good writing.
The University Writing Center, is establishing online writing consultations. Many of the students at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) commute, work full time have families, and may live and/or go to school at a distance. Additionally, some of our students may find the intimacy of one-to-one writing consultations intimidating and uncomfortable. For these reasons, the UWC has piloted and has established asynchronous writing support.
Online writing consultations are still managed through our WC online scheduling system. Students can access asynchronous appointment by using the drop-down menu to select the current semester's Asynchronous Schedule (e.g. Asynchronous S14 - Asynchronous schedule for spring 2014).
