UNR offers faculty and staff generous amounts of time off. Employees accrue annual leave, sick leave and also get 11 paid holidays through the year.

Annual Leave
Faculty on an ‘A’ contract accrue 2 days of annual leave per month.
Sick Leave
Full-time faculty on an “A” or “B” contract will start their first year with 30 days of sick leave. After the first year, two days per full month are accrued to a maximum of 96 days. Up to 15 days of sick leave per contract year may be used by the professional staff member to care for or assist family members for the following events: illness; injury, or medical, optometry or dental service or examination. The fifteen-day limitation does not apply if the leave is approved under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Classified Staff
Annual Leave
Classified staff working a full-time schedule, earn 10 hours of annual leave for each month of continuous full-time service. If you are a part-time employee, you will earn a pro-rated amount of annual leave based on full-time equivalent service. After ten years of continuous service you will earn up to a maximum of 12 hours of annual leave per month; and, with 15 years of service, up to 14 hours per month.
Sick Leave
Employees earn 10 hours of sick leave for each month of full-time service. Part-time employees earn a prorated amount based on full-time equivalent service. Sick leave can be used as soon as it is accrued.
