Here at the University of Nevada, Reno we offer our employees a comprehensive benefit package that includes health, vision and dental insurance, term life insurance (for employee and dependents), accident insurance, business travel insurance and long term disability insurance, all for one small monthly premium.
- Medical Insurance

We recognize that each employee’s needs are different — that’s why our comprehensive benefit package allows employees a choice of medical plan. Employee’s can choose between 2 PPO plans and an HMO plan*. All of these plans provide quality health care, prescription drug coverage, vision care, disease management programs, reasonable office co-pays and NO PRE-EXISTING LIMITATIONS.
* The HMO service area is limited to certain counties in the North (Reno area) and South (Las Vegas area).
- Dental Insurance
- Our dental plan offers employees and their dependents the opportunity to choose any dental provider, however when you choose to visit a dentist that is in the Network your benefits will be paid at a higher level. When you use a networked provider your preventative dental services – exam, cleaning (up to four a year!), bite-wing x-rays and fluoride treatments will be covered at 100% not subject to deductible. After that your basic and major services are subject to a small annual deductible and co-insurance.
- Vision Insurance
- Vision coverage is nested with your medical plan and allows for one vision exam per covered member per year with reasonable cost sharing.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential assessment and referral service specifically designed to assist employees and families in handling personal and work-related problems and is accessible by phone twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
