  • Classified Employee information

    Classified EmployeesClassified staff are non-exempt and employed by State of Nevada but work at the University.  These roles are present across all Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) campuses and are subject to State of Nevada employment rules and regulations including benefits, leave and other aspects of employment.  The roles have clearly defined job descriptions, pay grades and progression steps established by the State of Nevada Department of Personnel.  Included in this category are clerical, library, fiscal management and support, mechanical and construction trades, custodial, medical and health, and public safety positions. 

  • Academic and Administrative Faculty information

    Academic Faculty:   Exempt employees with titles that include:  lecturers, instructors, researchers and professors of various rank (Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and (Full) Professors).  These positions can be tenured, tenure track or non-tenure track in nature.  Salary schedules and evaluation levels are defined by the Board of Regents.

    Administrative Faculty:  Exempt members of university administration (e.g., directors, coordinators, deans, vice presidents, etc.) and support roles (e.g. human resources, finance, safety, student services and development) can be considered administrative faculty members.  Minimum requirement is a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.  Salary schedules, ranges and evaluation levels are defined by the Board of Regents.

  • Post-doctorate employment information (under construction)

    Postdoctoral Fellow:  A postdoctoral ("post-doc") appointment is a temporary position held by a person who has completed his/her doctoral studies. Postdoctoral appointments commonly last for periods ranging between six months and five years, and are usually research-oriented, although they may involve some teaching.  It is a specialized education and training position in research or scholarship under the direction of a faculty sponsor(s) for the Postdoctoral Fellow’s continuing education and professional growth.

  • Temporary employment information (under construction)

    Letter of Appointments:  A letter of appointment is a temporary position held by a person who has completed a minimum of a baccalaureate degree.  This employee type can be hourly or salaried.  There are specific limits on contract length and compensation must be in line with the relevant academic or administrative faculty schedule.
