The series consists of six workshops offered one per month for six months. After completion of all six workshops, attendees will receive a certificate of training in sponsored projects. For more information Contact Michelle Hoyt: mhoyt@unr.edu 784-4040

This workshop series is designed for anyone who is interested in preparing a grant or contract application or who is involved in the management of sponsored projects. The series takes you from the initial stages of where to find funding resources to proposal preparation procedures, through award management and finally, close out of a project. You will become familiar with roles and responsibilities on campus, the various regulatory concerns relating to sponsored projects and the financial management requirements to meet your role in these endeavors.  You may sign up for one or two workshops that interest you or the entire series.  Because of large demand, we try to fill new workshops from our waiting list, so, please indicate your interest by registering even if the current series is full.

Grants.gov training

Congress has mandated a consistent business portal for submitting proposals to federal agencies. Federal agencies are coming on line one at a time with the grants.gov submission process, but each agency has injected its own nuance into the submission process.  This training session will familiarize you with how to locate funding opportunities on grants.gov and pull the appropriate application package from grants.gov.  It will show how to download the PurEdge software for PCs and discuss the alternate method available for MAC users.  The session will provide experience from the PI perspective on putting an NSF grants.gov application together including tips and tricks on using Adobe Acrobat distiller to prevent unsuccessful submissions for NSF and NIH.  Changes to proposal preparation timelines and procedures will be addressed as well as a discussion on the differences between the grants.gov SF 424 forms and the previous Fastlane or NIH 398 form requirements that most faculty and staff have become accustomed to using.  This is a MUST HAVE training for those planning on submitting proposals to the federal government in the future.
