A current administrative faculty member may apply for a faculty position through a competitive search. If hired for the position, the employee may negotiate salary provided the position is at a higher range than their current role.
Whether an employee is eligible for merit, is dependent on whether the new position involves an increase in range and an increase in salary and the timing of the hire.
If an existing employee is hired through a competitive search into a new position between July 1 and June 30 and it includes a range change and salary increase, then they are not eligible for a merit increase the following fiscal year. If the position does not include the range and salary increase then they are eligible for merit.
If the position is at a lesser rank or range, the employee may or may not remain at the same salary.
