Phase In Retirement
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) beginning July 1, 2002 offers a phase in program that allows faculty and professional staff to phase in their retirement (generally between a .50 and .75 FTE course load or work assignment) over an agreed-upon period of time, not to exceed 5 years. During the phase-in, the institution and employee will continue contributing to their retirement plan as if they were employed 100% FTE.
The phase-in process is governed by a formal contract between the employee and the NSHE. If you have further questions about the phased-in retirement program, please contact your Human Resources Office or the BCN Benefits Office.
