Employee Assistance Program

University of Nevada RenoIt is the policy of the Nevada System of Higher Education to provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that allows employees to access a referral service designed to help NSHE employees and their families through personal difficulties.

The EAP is designed to treat many types of problems and is accessible by phone twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The EAP program is a confidential assessment and referral service specifically designed to assist employees and families in handling personal and work-related issues.

The NSHE allows up to four sessions of EAP services per calendar year at no cost to the employee.

Behavioral Healthcare Options, Inc. (BHO)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has contracted with Behavioral Healthcare Options, Inc. (BHO) for NSHE employees.

The EAP is a confidential assessment and referral service specifically designed to assist employees and families in handling personal and work-related problems and is accessible by phone twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Your EAP offers assessment, short-term counseling, referral and follow-up services and is staffed by trained and experienced mental health professionals. The NSHE will provide services through Behavioral Healthcare Options for an initial assessment and up to three follow-up sessions.

You can talk to your EAP counselor about:

  • emotional/personal conflicts
  • grief and loss
  • anxiety and depression
  • marital conflicts
  • questions about alcohol/drug use
  • parenting
  • managing stress and change
  • family blending
  • gambling
  • work performance issues

If a referral is made for services outside the EAP, you are responsible for the cost of those services; however, the counselor at BHO will assist in getting referrals set up through your medical insurance or another cost effective method.
