You're standing on the "tram," a wooden walkway along the dam at
the south end of Manzanita Lake, sometime between 1930 and 1935.
(We're not sure just when this photograph was taken.) At the north
end of the lake is Lincoln Hall, one of the university's first two
dormitories, built in 1895. As you turn to your left, you can see
Manzanita Hall, the other 1895 dormitory, and -- between Manzanita
and Lincoln, almost obscured by trees, Artemisia Hall, which was
built in 1926. Now look to the right of Lincoln Hall, and you can see
the Frandsen Humanities Building and the Alice McManus Clark Library.
In the background, partially obscrued by Frandsen, is the Chemistry
Building.
