It's 3:15 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 1930, and you're present for
the Mackay Science Hall Dedication Ceremony. So is just about every
other important person in Nevada: Chief Justice E. A. Ducker,
Senators Key Pittman and Tasker Oddie, Governor Fred Balzar, Mayor E.
E. Roberts, Board of Regents Chairman Judge George S. Brown,
University President Walter E. Clark, and Clarence Mackay, benefactor
and son of John Mackay. The platform is set up at the cornerstone of
the building. Turn to your right, and you'll see the President's
House and then Morrill Hall, with someone perched atop the door. Turn
to your left, and you'll see Mackay Mines at the other end of the
Quad.
