Applying to the Upward Bound Program
Students who have the ability and the desire to go to college but lack the financial resources because of family income level or lack knowledge about the college preparation and admission process are highly encouraged to apply to Upward Bound starting as early as 9th grade.
Applications are accepted in fall and spring each year, and new applicants are admitted to the program depending on the number of openings that occur each year following high school graduation of Upward Bound seniors.
The application process includes completing and submitting all the required paperwork (see below). The selection of eligible candidates is also based on teacher recommendations, test scores, academic need, semester grades, and an interview with the program coordinator. Both student and parent(s) or guardians must attend the interview session and sign consent forms, as participation in Upward Bound requires family commitment.
