The final URA project report must be submitted as a pdf file to the Office of Undergraduate Research (ugreseasrch@unr.edu) in one of the following forms:
1. If the student has prepared a manuscript based on the project for submission to a journal or presentation at a conference, a copy of this manuscript may be submitted in lieu of the final project report. Extended abstracts and papers that are shorter than four pages do not qualify.
2. A final project report not to exceed 20 pages including tables, figures, references, etc. prepared according to the format shown below must be submitted. The margins need to be 1” and the report should be single-spaced using a 12-point font. Tables, photos, and figures may be placed within the body of the report or grouped at the end.
(a) Cover page: Provide the title of the project, name of student, name of faculty mentor, the department and college, and date of the report. The title page should include the following statement:
“A Report to the Office of Undergraduate Research, University of Nevada , Reno ”.
(b) Abstract: Provide a summary of the research including highlights of results. Do not exceed 200 words.
(c ) Acknowledgements: Give credit to those who helped you conduct the research including your faculty mentor. Include the following statement: “This project was funded by the Office of Undergraduate Research, University of Nevada , Reno .” If other funding sources were also used, be sure to include them in this sentence.
(d) Introduction: Discuss the nature of the project, the issues, past research in this area, and lead into the gap that you tried to fill with your project.
(e) Objectives: Explain what you planned to accomplish.
(f) Description of research: Describe how you reached the objectives of the project. Use subheadings as necessary. Present highlights of any data you collected, and explain analysis and interpretation of the results.
(g) Conclusions: Summarize the important findings of your research and discuss the impact of your findings.
(h) References: List the references that you used and are cited in your report.
