Step 1: Application

Apply online for the TRiO Scholars Program.

We are currently processing applications received prior to May 18, 2013 for enrollment in the fall 2013 term. The application process for students wishing to participate in the fall 2014 term will reopen later this year. Please check back periodically if you wish to apply.

Step 2: Signature Page

Eligibility verification will be requested once your application has been pre-screened. When we request a signature page, please select the one that fits you and print out a copy to be signed.

DEPENDENT students are students who are required to include their parent’s information on their FAFSA when applying for federal aid. If you are dependent, you will need to provide your parent’s tax documentation and have a parent sign this form.

INDEPENDENT students do not need to provide a parent’s signature or parental tax documentation. To be considered independent, you must have been approved as an independent by the University of Nevada, Reno Financial Aid Office.

Step 3: Tax Verification

When requested, you will need to provide a copy of your parent's taxes (DEPENDENT STUDENTS) or your taxes (INDEPENDENT STUDENTS ONLY). We only need pages 1 & 2 from the 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ. Copies can be submitted, but please have them signed. The signature page and tax documents can be turned in to our office (Thompson Building, Suite 200) or faxed to (775) 784-1353.
