How to Apply

Application Process

We have currently accepted all potential applicants for fall 2014. We encourage students to apply who would like to be considered as 'waitlist' students this fall or for admission during the spring 2015 semester. Our application will remain open, but we will not be contacting applicants as frequently during fall 2014.   Congratulations to those students who were accepted into the program and good luck to those of you applying in the future!

Step 1: Application

If interested, you can apply on-line. After submitting your application, you should receive an email from the TRiO Scholars Program confirming our receipt of your application.

Step 2: Signature Page

Eligibility verification will be requested once your application has been pre-screened. When we request a signature page, please select the one that fits you and print out a copy to be signed.

DEPENDENT students are those who are required to include their parent’s information on their FAFSA when applying for federal aid. If you are dependent, you will need to provide your parent’s tax documentation and have a parent sign this form.

INDEPENDENT students are those who do not need to provide a parent’s signature or parental tax documentation. To be considered independent, you must have been approved as an independent by the University of Nevada, Reno Financial Aid Office.

Step 3: Tax Verification

When requested, you will need to provide a copy of your parent's taxes (DEPENDENT STUDENTS) or your taxes (INDEPENDENT STUDENTS ONLY). We only need pages 1 & 2 from the 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ. Copies can be submitted, but please have them signed. The signature page and tax documents can be turned in to our office (Thompson Building, Suite 200) or faxed to (775) 784-1353.
