STOMP

Why Transfer

STOMP (Student Transfer Outreach Mentoring Program) mentors help in the recruitment of transfer students, increase attendance of transfer students, retention of transfer students, as well as participate in Nevada Bound, Yield events, and New Student Orientation. STOMP members go to different colleges and help recruit students  looking to transfer; they attend T.A.P. events to help the Transfer Admissions coordinator relay information to students as well as help encourage students by telling them their personal stories. Fill out the Transfer Ambassador Application on-line or visit the Office of Prospective Students office in the Fitzgerald Building and request application from the Transfer Coordinator. The application will be turned into the Transfer Ambassador-Director of Recruitment.

Qualifications

  • 2.5 UNR cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units
  • Transferred in from a different college/university to UNR

When not working with transfer students, STOMP members can choose from a wide variety of skill enhancing responsibilities. Examples of the work in each area are listed below. In addition, all Transfer Ambassadors are asked to assist with large campus events such as Nevada Bound, New Student Orientation, and yield events.

Outreach Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Welcome Center
  • Assist advisors with college presentations
  • Staff college information tables
  • Assist with and lead aspects of New Student Orientation
  • Staffing information tables during semester Start-up
  • Lead campus tours

Student Life Responsibilities

  • Assist with staffing the Office of Prospective Students
  • Plan and coordinate (including logistics, advertising, and staffing) programs such as: Blood Drives Athletic events T.A.P. Events/Nevada Bounds

Co-Admissions Program

  • Assist the Transfer Admissions coordinator with students
  • Help set up appointments
  • Meet with students while at T.A.P. events
