School of Medicine

School of MedicineThe School of Medicine is one of the defining landmarks at the northern end of campus. At the southern edge of the medical complex is the Family Medicine Center as well as the Student Health Center in the Nell J. Redfield Building. The school emphasizes the development of primary care physicians and is affiliated with hospitals throughout the state to provide students with access to numerous clinical facilities. The School of Medicine admits 62 students each year, most of whom are Nevada residents. The Nevada Legislature authorized creation of the medical school in 1967, and the first class of 32 medical students began work at Nevada in September 1971.
