Anticipated graduation date: Graduated December 2005 with dual major BA in Political Science and International Affairs

Major: Social Studies minor and my teaching certificate for secondary education.

Technology skills: My technology skills are scant. Although I love technology and the possibilities, my knowledge is superficial. I have taken a digital media class at TMCC where I was introduced to some software- Photoshop and Illustrator, and learned a little about webdesign- Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash. I have also taken some classes through SNCAT where I was introduced to digital editing, cameral use and studio use. I have an iMac G5 (the Mazarati that has stayed in the garage until after graduation) and I just received a new mini DV camera for graduation- I have not used it yet. My iMac is the only DVD player I have ever owned and my mom still programs the VCR.

My technology examples:
Shawn's presentation, "Redeeming the Tower via Technology" [ PowerPoint | Video ]

How I plan on integrating technology into my teaching: I am stoked to use technology in my classroom! Initially I would like to learn to use it for my projects and teaching presentations in the class, but I really want to teach my students how to use the technology in their own class projects. I want my students to have the opportunity to become current in technology use. And, for those who want to pursue it, to have the ability to do so; and for the techno-phobes in my class, I want them to at least become familiar with technology so they are more comfortable. I have seen the power of the influence of video and I want to harness it. At the very least, I want my students to learn from my own creativity and at best- I want them to do a research project using technology- video, powerpoint, Internet research, interviews, and montage, to present to the class as well as experience for themselves, that they can create something grand.
