Anticipated graduation date: December 2006

Major: Secondary Education-Business

Technology skills:Ever since I was in junior high school, I have been interested in computers and technology. My first contact with them was filling out punch cards and programming in BASIC. I still remember using my first computer, a Commodore 64. I know that this ages me quite a bit. As
an adult, I spent several years working for a major computer manufacturer; first in sales, then as a sales manager, and then as the operations manager. Working in this industry gave me a lot of exposure to both the hardware and software aspects of technology. I used programs like MS Office
extensively. I learned about various operating systems, digital imaging, and web page design. As a student at UNR, I have developed my skills further. I have learned the basics of how to design a computer-based learning program from the ground up, how to develop a web site as a learning tool, and how to create animations for web sites by using programs like Flash.

My technology examples:

These are some samples of the work that I have created while at UNR:

How I plan on integrating technology into my teaching: As a teacher, I want to teach my students that technology can be used as a learning tool and for fun, hopefully both at the same time. I want to be able to develop specialized instructional programs for my students so that they get the most out of my classes. I would like to become a computer teacher and teach my students that there is more to using a computer than writing a paper and the internet. I want my students to use technology to develop applications that would be useful to themselves and others. I want them to know that there is more to computer class than just typing for 30 minutes, just for the sake of typing
