Technology skills: I have been a computer hobbyist for as long as I can remember. My
youngest memories of computers is of downloading freeware and shareware programs to try on my personal computer (an old 386). Over the years I have learned a great deal about using computers and how they work. I have completed two computer application classes at UNR and am familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office products and operating systems. In addition I have explored the world of open source/free software including some specific uses in the educational community
(http://www.schoolforge.net). I am also familiar with basic home networking and computer troubleshooting.

My technology examples: (I have some stuff that I did for the Webquest class I took at UNR and
also an application I did for another CEP class, it is on the Basics of Taking a Picture. I just don't have them anywhere online.)

How I plan on integrating technology into my teaching: The Internet has the potential to be key to communicating with my students and parents. I plan on using a class website to allow parents and students to see what they have for homework, what projects are coming up and to access class notes. I have also seen software that would allow parents and students to log in and check their grades. This would allow students to see where they are in the class and it will provide the parents with real time data on their child's progress. The power of multimedia is amazing, to harness just a little bit of
that in the classroom would truly enrich the education of my students. I plan on integrating a small computer lab of 5-10 computers in the classroom for use on assignments and projects. Ideally access to digital cameras and video cameras would allow my students to use creativity in presenting projects with pictures and video they have taken. Technology will also assist me as a teacher in recording and assessing student's progress. With the current software based grading programs, the teacher is able to look at class trends and do some amazing things with the raw data including printing progress reports and missing assignment reports for each of the students.
