McNair Scholars Program

(National TRiO Day 2007)

Prestigious graduate school preparation program comes to the University of Nevada, Reno

Thinking about graduate school? Are you from a family where neither parent has a bachelor's degree and you qualify for financial aid? Or, are you African American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian/Alaskan Native? If you fit either of these categories, consider applying for the University of Nevada, Reno McNair Scholars Program! Selected students will receive the support needed to enter doctoral programs that will lead to careers in teaching, research, or administration on college and university campuses .

Program Structure

The program offers services during the academic year.  Twenty-two scholars were identified to participate in the program in 2004-2005.  Eight additional scholars were selected to participate in the 2005-2006 academic year program (second cohort).  Eight additional scholars were also selected to participate in the 2006-2007 academic year program (third cohort).  As of 3/1/08, applications are still being accepted for the 2007-2008 academic year program (fourth cohort).

Note:  Selection of participants will continue until all slots are filled.
