Degree Audit Reporting System - Faculty and Staff

DARS: Degree Audit Reporting System

History and Use:

Miami University of Ohio developed the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) and has marketed it to more than a hundred institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada.   The NSHE purchased the DARS product in 1996; implementation began the following year. A conversion to the windows-based DarWIN program took place in Spring 2004.  DARSweb is the web interface that allows running and viewing of up-to-date DARS reports on the web. DARSweb was made available to most faculty advisors in 2006, and to students (via ePaws) in 2008.

DARS helps students and their advisors monitor progress toward degree completion.  DARS is also used for graduation certification in the Admissions and Records office; therefore, an accurate and complete DARS report is essential to graduation.

Help DARS Serve Your Advisees By Verifying That:

DARS accurately reflects each student's program and catalog year (change either or both via a Change of Major form). *

DARS includes the minor, when applicable (declare, add, or delete a minor via a Change of Minor form).*

DARS includes evaluated transfer work (see the Transfer Articulation page).

DARS includes all processed substitutions/waivers (see the Processing Substitutions or Waivers for College, Major, or Minor Requirements page, and/or the Processing Substitutions or Waivers for Core Curriculum Requirements page).

* The lists of Undergraduate Majors and Minors include their program codes and available catalog years.

CAIS/DARS REPORTS:

There are four reports, containing a combination of SIS and DARS data, available via the CAIS (Campus Advanced Information Systems) application:

These reports are updated automatically, on a nightly basis, from information downloaded from SIS and from DARS. For more information, see the CAIS/DARS reports section of the Accessing DARS Online page.

NEW:

If you are new user of DARS, or a returning/veteran user who would like a refresher, please contact Isabel Evans to arrange a training session. The DARS Advisors Manual includes instructions for using DARS and CAIS/SIS, as well as descriptions of other useful web resources.
