The Encoding Approval Process
Encoding DARS Reports:
The Dean of each College or School provides the Admissions and Records Office with the name of a Curriculum Resource person in each department. The Curriculum Resource person coordinates:
- Review, revision, and annual approval of catalog copy.
- Review, revision, and annual approval of DARS encoding.
- Evaluation of transfer credit to meet college/major requirements for all students.
- Approval of substitution/waiver forms for major requirements.
- Final reconciliation of DARS reports for applicants for graduation.
The DARS staff works with the Curriculum Resource person to encode degrees for each new catalog year.
- We begin by comparing new catalog copy to the previous year's and make the necessary adjustments.
- We send revised test DARS to the Curriculum Resource person with a DARS approval form.
- Approval forms and DARS reports are returned to the DARS staff with clear notes for revision and appropriate signatures.
Changes requested by the Curriculum Resource person are made and the reports are made available to students. Note: The DARS encoding must be consistent with the catalog description of the program.
