The Center strongly encourages you to get involved with your student’s education at the University of Nevada, Reno. There are specific federal rules that limit the information we can release to you concerning your student. The most supportive parent is an educated parent and we provide the following links for your information:
FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the rights have transferred are "eligible students." The parent's blog is an internet resource for up tp date information for parents of students enrolled at the University.

Twenty students and their parents are invited annually to participate in a program designed to assist parents in helping their student transition from high school to college. The workshop includes information on financial aid, academic expectations of college professors, academic and support services offered on campus and student activities. The program is delivered in Spanish with English translation available.

STAC Phase II:
Parents of participating students in the Start Thinking About College Phase I are invited for informational sessions on applying for UNR, UNR minimum admissions requirements, financial aid, and college life in general. There are two sessions provided at the same time; one in English and the other in Spanish.
STAC Phase III:
Parents who participated in STAC Phase II are invited to participate in a campus tour with their family.
College Life 101 provides a comprehensive introduction to the University of Nevada, Reno for interested parents to assist them in preparing their students for an academic career after high school.
