Millennium Scholarship Questions
I lost my Millennium Scholarship last semester…how can I get it back?
To regain eligibility for the Millennium Scholarship, you must enroll in the required number of courses at a community college (6 or more) or a university (12 credits) during a subsequent semester and earn the required GPA. Students must maintain a 2.6 GPA for each semester of their first year of enrollment (defined as less than 30 credit hours earned) and a 2.75 GPA for each subsequent semester. GPA is calculated on a “per semester” rather than a cumulative basis.
You may earn back eligibility during summer sessions by taking 6 credits at a community college and earning at least a D- average. The summer GPA will be averaged with the fall semester GPA which may affect spring semester eligibility. You must prepay for summer courses and will be reimbursed at the end of the fall add/drop period. If you attend an institution other than your regular or “home” institution, you must submit a Summer Reimbursement Request Form.
If I do a course repeat, will the Millennium Scholarship pay for it?
If you take a class for the “repeat adjustment” option, the Millennium Scholarship will pay for the repeat course credits as part of the required 12 semester credits at the university. You cannot receive credits for the same course twice. Once you have retaken a course the credits and grade for that original course will be deleted from the semester in which you were enrolled in the course.
Will the millennium Scholarship pay for my remedial math class?
The Millennium Scholarship will not pay for remedial courses (any math or English course with a course number less than 100). However, the remedial course credit can count toward the required 12 credits for the semester.
I had to withdraw last semester due to an illness…can I appeal to get the scholarship back?
If you do not earn the required number of credits (12) each semester either by withdrawing from school, dropping a class/s or failing a class/s, you will lose your eligibility for the Millennium Scholarship for the following semester. There is no appeal process to regain eligibility for that semester.
I have a documented disability…can I take less than 12 credits and still receive the Millennium Scholarship?
If you have a documented disability that is validated and registered through the Disability Resource Center, you may qualify for a “Reduced Course Load” (less than 12 credits). A Reduced Course Load must be approved each semester by the Director of the Disability Resource Center.
