2009 Internship Opportunities at NASA Centers

NASA Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD)

2009 Summer Internships

These internships provide students ESMD-relevant work experience in industry or at a NASA center. Students will be engaged in hands-on engineering projects with a strong and involved mentor.

ESMD internships are open to juniors, seniors and graduate students.

The application site will be open November 17, 2008 – January 12, 2009

Nevada NASA Space Grant Curricula Development fund announcement

The Nevada Space Grant Consortium anticipates
funding will be available in the spring of 2009 for curricula development and new course implementation activities that are related to NASA's missions. If you are looking to develop curricula or course(s) that are potentially eligible for funding, please contact the Nevada Space Grant office.

For full consideration contact the NvSGC office and submit materials by:  December 5, 2008

Experience NASA

The Ames Education Associates Program is a unique experiential learning program that provides university students and faculty the opportunity to "experience NASA." As an Educational Associate, you will have the opportunity to participate in a project related to one or more of NASA's missions:

* Exploring our Solar System
* Space Science & Technology
* Deep Space Missions
* Research Aircraft

     This picture of Neptune was produced from the last whole planet images taken through the green and orange filters on the Voyager 2 narrow angle camera. The images were taken at a range of 4.4 million miles from the planet, 4 days and 20 hours before closest approach. The picture shows the Great Dark Spot and its companion bright smudge; on the west limb the fast moving bright feature called Scooter and the little dark spot are visible. These clouds were seen to persist for as long as Voyager's cameras could resolve them. North of these, a bright cloud band similar to the south polar streak may be seen.
