I came to UCLA as graduate student from the University of Nevada, Reno’s BSW program. Like any student going into a prestigious MSW program, I was nervous and I had doubts about my abilities. I could not have been more wrong to feel insecure. UNR’s BSW program more than prepared me for the field of social work and for graduate studies. I was given an incredible education that assisted me in standing out at UCLA. I was able to develop and implement my own program at UCLA Medical Center, I was nominated for the Outstanding Student Award 2012 and a UCLA newspaper article was written about my efforts at the Medical Center. None of these things would have been possible without the education I was given at UNR. Even next to other BSWs in my program, my friends and I agree that UNR’s education was the most encompassing. I take my past professors and lessons with me in all that I do and I could never have asked for a more comprehensive educational experience. I owe a sincere thank you the Nevada Social Work Department for all your previous and ongoing support! –Elisa Geraci
