Professor Albers has been active on several committees, including seven years on the Committee for the Protection of Children, where he served as a chair for four years. He has also been a member of the Commission on Mental Health and Developmental Services, a position appointed by the governor. In addition, Professor Albers is a chair of the governing board for the Nevada Mental Health Institute.

 

Professor Albers teaches graduate and undergraduate Human Behavior and the Social Environment as well as Methods in Social Work Practice.

1989-present: Associate Professor, School of Social Work and the Social Environment classes. Advise M.S.W. students. Develop and implement on-going research. Participate in School, College, and University Committees.

2002-present: Lead Evaluator for the Western Center for Substance Abuse Prevention a sub unit of the Center for Substance Abuse Technologies of the University of Nevada, Reno.

1999-present: Appointed by Governor of Nevada to Commission on Mental Health and Developmental Services.

2002-present: Chair of the Local Governing Board to the Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Hospital.

Co-Principal Investigator: Evaluation of Drug Abuse Prevention Organization of the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse through the Division of Health, State of Nevada: continuation grant for 21 months 2003-2004 totaling $227,634.
