CLINIC
POLICIES
NO
APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY EXCEPT FOR NIGHT CLINIC AND SPECIALTY
CLINICS-PSYCHIATRY, COUNSELING, NUTRITION, GYNECOLOGY AND DERMATOLOGY.
Walk-In visits
are majority of our patient visits. All students must present
a valid Student ID to be seen at the UNR Student Health Center. We will
prioritize
(triage)
walk-in patients as follows:
- Emergency patients are seen first: symptoms may include, but
are not limited to, chest pain, difficulty breathing, disorientation/confusion.
- Urgent patients are seen second: symptoms may include,
but are not limited to, acute abdominal pain, bleeding and
lacerations,
trauma to the eye, persistent
high fever.
- All other walk-ins will be triaged by the nursing staff
and
seen in order of check-in time.
Our office offers
a unique service in that we accommodate
walk-in
patients
as
well as
patients
with
appointments. A specific amount of time is scheduled for your visits.
Therefore, we must insist on timely arrival for appointments. If
you are late for your appointment, you will be rescheduled. Your
cooperation when scheduling and keeping your appointments is appreciated.
Regular night clinic appointments-1/
2 hour Allows time for history, appropriate physical exam, and treatment
plan. For chronic or long-standing problems, medication appropriate physical
exam, refills, management of asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, routine
gynecological exams and birth control, skin disorders, and surgical procedures
(up to one hour).
Follow-up night appointments- 15 minutes Allows
time to assess status of previously diagnosed problem (ordered by practitioner).
Understandably, many patients prefer not to miss school and work; however,
because 90% of our patients either attend school and/or work, you may
have to miss a class or work to be seen.
**PLEASE REMEMBER** Our objective at Student Health is to provide
thorough and appropriate medical care in a timely manner. We estimate
the time needed
for our patients; however, occasionally unexpected complications occur which
require more time than first anticipated. Please allow at least one to two
hours for visits which includes check-in, visit, and prescription waiting
time for
Campus Pharmacy.
