Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate at the University of Nevada, Reno is the governing
body for faculty, representing all academic and administrative units at
the university. The senate reports directly to the university president.
Senators are elected by faculty in their colleges or units. As advocates
for faculty welfare, senators help make decisions and campus policies
and make recommendations to the president. They are responsible for
communicating with their constituents to provide information about the
senate’s activities. Senators also gather faculty opinions on current
issues that might affect not only them, but students and staff as well.
The senate meets regularly, usually once a month.
An SEC committee member attends the meetings
and reports back to the council issues of interest to classified staff.
