Nevada's State Climatologist collects and interprets Nevada's climate data and shares this analysis with interested stakeholders including the general public. The state climatologist operates from the University of Nevada, Reno and is a member of the American Association of State Climatologists.
Nevada's State Climatologist is Kate Berry Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Dr. Berry works within the geographic tradition of human-environment interactions. She has experience in the analysis of water policy, with an emphasis on research about intergovernmental relations in water conflicts and examinations of the cultural and political dimensions of water conflicts and policy. She has worked extensively on indigenous resources issues, including tribal and Native Hawaiian water issues. She employs a variety of methods in her projects, including textual and visual analyses of contemporary and historical records; field methods; interviews and surveys; and both qualitative and quantitative analytical methods. She has worked in the western U.S, Latin America, and the Pacific.
