Evening Gown: History

As the story goes, this olive green two piece silk evening gown came to Nevada from England. Although the donor of the garment is unknown, it is believed this is the dress of Mrs. Maria C. Wedge, who moved to Panaca from Utah in 1865. She had brought the dress with her from England in 1861 when she came to Utah with an ox team company. She and her daughter-in-law took turns wearing the dress as it was the only good dress they had between them in Panaca.
