Evening Gown: Bodice

The cut of this bodice is very similar to the voile print dress of 1846. The center front panel, like the voile dress, is cut on the bias. The fabric is controlled with the five rows of ruching at the waist. The upper edge is softly gathered off the shoulder neckline.

One of the unique features of the bodice is the bust padding. The short sleeves are trimmed with three bias cut flounces all edged with 1/2" silk fringe. The top row is finished with cording. The flounces are all stitched to the lined sleeve with the bottom flounce being slightly shorter than the 2 upper flounces.
