The fabric is a light weight silk broadcloth. The lines of the three piece gown are accented with a lighter brown silk satin bias and silk fringe. In addition to the skirt and bodice, there is a separate drape which accents the back of the dress and provides a belted look for the dress. It is important to note that the dress was partially machine stitched. The trim and finish work were completed by hand.

The drape is two tiered and unlined. It is pleated to the waistband which closes in the front. The belt effect is completed with a belt loop. A half fan shape or rosette appears to have been meant to stand up against the back of the bodice. Both layers of the drape are trimmed with satin bias and fringe.
