PACER Center: A nonprofit organization that provide workshops, individual assistance and disseminates materials to help parents become informed and effective representatives for their children with disabilities in early childhood, school-age and vocational settings. The HEATH Resource Center of the American Council on Education: A national clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities. The National Information Center for Children and Youths with Disabilities (NICHCY): A national information and referral service that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals with a special focus on children and youth (birth to age 22). The Special Ed Advocate: This organization provides parents, educators, attorneys, and other helping professionals with the information they need to be effective advocates for special needs children. Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP): An organization that focuses on family policy and access to civil legal assistance for low-income families. Family policy projects include welfare reform, workforce development, childcare, child support enforcement and reproductive health. Excellent site for recent state and local newsletters, publications, and updates on new policy developments relating to welfare reform and disabilities. Also this site is very user friendly. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Administration on Children and Families (ACF): A division within DHHS that is responsible for federal programs, which promote the economic and social well being of families, children, individuals, and communities. National Clearinghouse for Legal Services (NCLS): An information resource for legal services attorneys and organizations working on poverty-related policy issues. NCLS focuses on poverty law issues including public benefits, employment, housing, health, and discrimination, and work with clients, social services providers, legal services attorneys, policy makers, legislators, and the media. Center for the Study and Advancement of Disability Policy (CSADP): This site is entitled "Comprehensive State Work Incentives Initiatives: A Resource Center for Developing and Implementing Medicaid Buy In and Related Employment Programs for Persons with Disabilities." The site includes descriptions of the numbers and characteristics of persons with significant disabilities; descriptions of federal law (including the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act); model state legislation; descriptions of cross-disability Executive and Legislative initiatives; initial planning information gathering and program and fiscal estimates; state work incentives policy options (Medicaid Buy In, Medicaid Waivers, and Income Assistance Demonstrations); emerging implementation policy issues; and documenting outcomes and performance.
