Diversity at the University of Nevada, Reno: Committees and Resources

Multiethnic Coalition

Formed in Fall, 2002, this committee reports to the President. Participation is open, on a continuing basis, to all members of the university community.

Mission

Identify and communicate the issues and concerns of faculty, staff, and students of color regarding their experiences in, and expectations of, the university

Goals

Ensure that the unique challenges facing people of color are communicated to the broader campus community
Provide opportunities for networking and the development of support systems for people of color
Ensure that race/ethnicity are not barriers to full participation in the academic, professional, social and cultural life of the university for employee or students of color
Provide educational materials and opportunities to the campus community

Meeting Schedule, 2007-08

Via video conference the third Thursday of each month , 12:15-1:15, through June 2008. Main Campus member meet in room 20 of the Pennington Building at UNSOM (basement or ground level), Las Vegas members meet in the video conference facility at Southern Area Cooperative Extension, and members in other locations meet at the venues they've established.
