Promenade on the River Immersion Program
The Sanford Center for Aging and Promenade on the River, a resort living community in Reno for active seniors, had partnered in a pilot “immersion” program to acquaint medical school residents and other future health-care professionals with geriatrics research, gerontology education and the experience of aging healthfully.
Promenade on the River donated on-site accommodations in exchange for weekly health education or research presentations that fuse academic and clinical experience. During the academic year, the designated student resided at Promenade. The idea was to encourage development of personal relationships with residents and witness healthy aging while working closely with a faculty adviser to develop and implement research projects.
