Club Members Attend National Gerontology Conference
This is Lea Cartwright, president of the ASG. From February 22nd through the 26th I will be attending a national conference on aging in Arlington, Virginia put on by AGHE- the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. This conference has all of the "who's who" in the gerontology community gather in one place for 4 days to discuss and share ideas about aging and everything that relates to growing old. I am excited to have been invited to participate in a group mentoring lunch where we will have a round-table discussion on our area of interest with an expert in that field. I haven't received confirmation yet, but I hope to be at the table discussing legislation regarding caregivers, in-home care and assisted living centers. I hope to learn where the future of gerontology will be and how I can help the greatest number of people enjoy aging as a part of living. When I return I will bring back all of the information I learned and share it with anyone who is interested- and some who don't know they are yet. I will be talking about the events at the ASG meeting on February 27th at 1pm. Hope to see you there!

On November 29, 2011 the Associated Students of Gerontology at UNR offered free cocoa and mugs outside the student union in an effort to increase awareness about GAP and gerontology on UNR's campus. Below are a few photos of the event.
