Taking Charge


The Taking Charge workshop is based on a program developed by Stanford University and draws on more than 30 years of research. Classes meet one day per week for six weeks and last for two and a half hours.


Participants with various chronic conditions learn together how to live well with:


  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Disease
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Other Chronic Conditions


Course topics include:


  • Coping with frustration, pain, fatigue
  • Excercising to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance
  • Nutrition
  • Communicating with friends, family, and health-care professionals about your chronic condition
