Senior Outreach Services Recognition Event



Senior Outreach Services Recognition 2012On May 9, 2012 the Senior Outreach Services held a Volunteer Remembrance Luncheon to honor those volunteers who passed away remembering the legacy they left behind, while at the same time recognizing the volunteers who continue to support vulnerable elders in the community.

Debbie Enos, Resource Development Specialist with the Aging and Disability Services Division of the State of Nevada presented Robert Fontana with the SOS Volunteer Service Award. Robert is 92 years old and currently still an active SOS volunteer as he has been for the past 10 years.

 Sina Ward, Director of Senior Outreach Services, was the Emcee, Dr. Denise Montcalm, Director of Social Work and Interim Director of the Sanford Center welcomed the guests. The Valley Harper’s trio provided live harp music while Dolores Ward performed a Polynesian dance to Somewhere over the Rainbow. Pat Blanchard, SOS volunteer ambassador and past director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Washoe County presented the history of the SOS program founder & originator, Marge Detsch. Closing remarks were by Scott Trevithick, Director of Volunteer Programs, Sanford Center for Aging and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
